Roxy Music Live in Concert

Roxy Music was formed in 1970 by lead singer and songwriter Bryan Ferry and bass guitarist Graham Simpson. Ferry had just lost his job teaching ceramics at a girls' school for holding unauthorized record-listening sessions. Ferry decided to start a band and put out ads to attract musicians. He enlisted Andy Mackay on saxophone and oboe, Roger Bunn on guitar and Dexter Lloyd on drums. Brian Eno, who has found enormous success as a solo artist, was also brought on for synthesizer and treatments, although he left soon after the group's second album release. The difference in style between Ferry and Eno would create the band's signature sound, but it also eventually drove the two apart. Roxy Music gained critical attention quickly and was signed to Island Records almost immediately upon the release of their debut self-titled album in 1972. The album was a significant success, reaching No. 10 on the UK charts. Things really heated up when the group performed their debut single "Virginia Plain" on BBC's "Top of the Pops." The song was later listed on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Debut Singles of All Time list. Their signature style was displayed for the world and became a template for the glam trend in the UK. The band released their second album, For Your Pleasure, in 1973. This album turned out to be Eno's last project with Roxy Music, a lineup change that would send the band in a new direction. They released Stranded in 1973, Country Life in 1974, and Siren in 1975. Rolling Stone referred to Stranded and Country Life as marking "the zenith of contemporary British art rock." The group took a break in 1976 before reuniting to record Manifesto in 1979, Flesh and Blood in 1980 and their final studio album Avalon in 1982. After taking a second and final hiatus that began in 1983, Roxy Music got back together for their first reunion tour in 2001. Since then, Rolling Stone has ranked Roxy Music No. 98 on their "The Immortals -- The 100 Greatest Artists of All Time" list, and in 2019, Roxy Music was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Over the course of their career, Roxy Music have played many famous venues, like the American Airlines Center in Dallas and the TD Garden in Boston.

Worth the money. VIP ticket holder entry location not clear

by Tom on 10/11/22American Airlines Center - Dallas

Absolutely loved the show. Didn't expect to hear the vocal range that Bryan had in his youth, especially having read other reviews from the preceding Roxy 50th Anniv concerts. My family and I went to see a legendary band and they did not disappoint. The VIP ticket holder entrance location was not made clear; stood at wrong locked door for several wasted minutes (despite being told by concert employees that we were at the correct door).

    Roxy Experience

by DB on 10/7/22United Center - Chicago

Concert was exciting. The band was tight. The video was big, although from the side the view was skewed because of the many screens involved. Wasn't sure if was us who had problems seeing it or the staging (it needed to be seen straight on come to find out) Ferry's vocals were low. His voice was weak but he was a trooper. The physical seats at Union Station were not comfortable and not intended for a large man. Im glad i saw them. Best concert this year

    A Great Farewell...

by Batman on 10/6/22Chase Center - San Francisco

The concert was amazing! For guys in their mid 70s, they left it all on the stage. Bryan Ferry has such a haunting voice...it is now starting to fade, so as a farewell 50th anniversary tour it was awesome.

No other band sounds like Roxy Music. They definitely paved the way for an entire genre of music.

Saw them in nineteen seventy four at the Roxy Theater in Northampton Pennsylvania. I was familiar with St Vincent who was fantastic. A perfect opener for Roxy Music. I saw this show in Austin Texas and was counting on seeing them do Prarie Rose but was let down. No Virginia Plain no Mother of Pearl but ,The Bogus Man? Anyway I’m a forever fan and glad I got to see them

by Momsey on 10/2/22Kia Forum - Inglewood

Upon arriving at The Forum we were informed as we were getting our tickets scanned that our tickets had been upgraded. We didn't know why but we went with it. We needed to find where our upgraded seats were but NOBODY from staff seemed to know where to send us or knew what to do. Finally a Staff gentlemen was able to help and hand us our upgraded tickets. My daughter waited at least 20 minutes for a pretzel that had been heating up since the pretzels were JUST frozen. Other's were complaining as well. Shouldn't the food be well prepared prior to guests entering the building? Our biggest complaint about the evening was the distraction from other guests who clearly would rather "party" and talk during Roxy's performance. I don't get it! Although seeing Roxy was amazing in itself the sound was distorted, We couldn't even hear what Bryan Ferry was saying to the crowd...very disappointed in the overall evening...

    4 star performance

by StrongIsland on 10/2/22Kia Forum - Inglewood

Great Roxy Music show. Craftsmanship in full effect. Only reason this is not a five-star rating is Kia Forum. Terrible legroom! Opinion was echoed by several sectionmates, none over 6-foot tall. This needs to be corrected before we return...
