Lisa Crawley Muses on Modern Culture with Her “Don’t Delete Me” Video Premiere

Deleting, cancelling, expunging; it’s all so commonplace and, based on your perspective, a nuisance in our social media-mad world. Musician Lisa Crawley is offering her take on this, again, based on your perspective, toxic element of our culture in her new single “Don’t Delete Me.”

Today we debut the song’s official video, a delicate yet rather humourous clip that is her position on this whole issue of “deleting” people from your life. Crawley found inspiration to write the song from the challenges of staying relevant in a world shaped by constant change.

Explaining the music video and its more specific meaning, Crawley comments:

“The ‘Don’t Delete Me’ video concept was based on my experiences of breakups, obsessive/anxious thoughts, combined with my love of cheesy insurance billboards and colorful pianos. We’re so bombarded with social media that unless we’re blocked/deleted (which is certainly easier than ever these days), it’s difficult to avoid somebody and not dwell on what could have been, and if you do delete someone as a quick fix, you may start hallucinating and seeing them (and their pet) as an insurance salesperson!”

A lifelong musician, Crawley’s musical obsession began when she was a toddler. Originally born in New Zealand, after previous stints living in London and Melbourne, she moved to Los Angeles in 2020 to pursue her career as an artist. After moving to LA, she wrote and recorded her Looking for Love (In A Major) EP, which she primarily worked on in lockdown.

There have been many memorable moments throughout her still-developing career. To name a few: opening for Suzanne Vega, John Mayer, Jools Holland, Paul Weller, and Simply Red and playing with the Auckland Symphony Orchestra. She also performed in the Tony Award-winning musical Once, and her music has been featured in shows like Nancy Drew, Good Trouble, Stumptown, and Proven Innocent. In terms of staying relevant, it’s not been much of a challenge for the talented and ever-evolving Crawley.
